Coolum Library Upgrade delivered in 50th Anniversary of the Naming of the Sunshine Coast
The community joined Mayor Mark Jamieson today (November 20) to celebrate one of the milestone projects of the 50th Anniversary of the Naming of the Sunshine Coast – the official opening of council’s newly renovated Coolum Library.
Mayor Mark Jamieson said today’s official opening was an significant milestone for the Sunshine Coast as our libraries continue to be a very important, and much loved community hub.
Almost 380,000 people visited the Coolum Library in the 2016-17 financial year, with an average of 140 new members signing up each month.
“Each of our eight libraries and our two mobile libraries are dynamic, multi-purpose environments for learning and recreation,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“Socially, our libraries bring people from all walks of life together, reducing feelings of isolation by promoting social interaction and inclusion.
“From an economic perspective, libraries unlock opportunities for job prospects and progression.
“Our libraries also support and promote our cultural diversity with vibrant and stimulating exhibitions for all the community to enjoy.
