Sunshine Coast faces brain drain challenge

Losing the young “best and brightest” is the biggest challenge for an innovative Sunshine Coast according to “new economy” business forum attended by Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull on Friday.

More than 150 businessmen and women – at a function organised by LNP’s Fairfax candidate Ted O’Brien – listed keeping young people and “improving connectivity” between Sunshine Coast businesses as the two biggest problems for the rapidly-growing Sunshine Coast region.

The Sunshine Coast’s population has doubled to 330,000 – including Noosa – in the past decade, the forum was told.
