100,000th Tree Planting

100,000th Tree Planting

Today, Cr McKay & I planted the 100,000th tree at Mooloolah as part of a 4 year project to re-vegetate four crucial catchments in Yandina, Maroochy, Pumicestone and Mooloolah
Sunshine Coast Council staff, volunteers and property owners like neighbour Paul Thomas have combined with commitment to the riparian projects.
With $180k from the Environment Levy we will see 69,000 trees planted along with weed species removed.
Ratepayers, can see their money is being well spent in important catchment areas.
These environmental initiatives secure our future, minimise erosion, maintain habitat (particularly for the likes of the ‘fat fruit pigeon’)and of course enhance water quality all the way to the ocean.
Thanks to all involved.
