Bankfoot House Sesquicentenary Celebration

Bankfoot House Sesquicentenary Celebration

50yrs of Sunshine Coast history was recognised today at Bankfoot House in the Glasshouse Mountains.
His excellency Paul deJersy Governor of Queensland joined us to celebrate and remember the Grigor, Burgess and Ferris families who lived and worked this property.
We also recognised our traditional custodians, the Kabi Kabi and Jinibarra people’s whose tribal lands intersect at this point.
Cobb&Co, and the Gold Rush played an important role in opening up the Old Gympie Road Highway.
Sunshine Coast Council staff and the Friends of Bankfoot House have combined and used the Heritage Levy to fund and maintain this historically significant property.
Today also marked the re-opening of the
Shed and the associated implements and equipment display.
A beautiful restoration.
I want to acknowledge the huge crowd and community groups in attendance despite the inclement weather.
Our history is well preserved on this unique location for all those who follow us and learn from our magnificent past.
Thank you
