Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack

Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack

We enjoyed a detailed discussion with Deputy PM Michael McCormack on a range of Local Government initiatives including

Just 1% as a share of Commonwealth taxation, Building Better Regions ,

Digital, Road and Rail infrastructure and City Deals, which was announced by the PM overnight.

As a regional member from Wagga, Michael understands the important balance between sustainability & investment.

He impressed LGAQ Board colleague, Mayor Karen Williams and I with his genuine interest.

By partnering with Councils the Federal Government can get superior value and enhanced acquittal of funds invested in local communities, creating jobs, confidence and liveability.

Currently with only 3% of the tax take Australia 537 Councils manage 33% of the nations infrastructure including 76% of all roads.

Ultimately, unsustainable!
