Take a gallery tour, the Menshed did
It’s never too late to discover your artistic side, and a gallery tour could be just the right way to start.
Whether you’re a budding artist, have an appreciation for art, or just want to learn more about art, gallery tours could provide you with a level of insight into the exhibitions that you may not otherwise get.
Caloundra Regional Gallery regularly hosts group tours during exhibitions, which are free and guided by gallery staff and/or trained volunteers
Community Services Director Coralie Nichols said the gallery tours were a great way to expand artistic knowledge and understanding.
“By attending an organised gallery tour, you really can gain a much deeper understanding of the story behind the individual artworks, the artists and the collectors themselves,” she said.
“I encourage any group with an interest in art to contact the gallery and discuss the options for a tour.”
The Glasshouse Community Menshed Art Group recently took up the offer and is now discussing how they can hold an exhibition of their own.
The Art Group was established in January by coordinator Bob Carruthers and member Gerry Luhman, a retired industrial designer, and design and drawing teacher.
