Travellers rate Montville top of the pops
Already renowned for its restaurants, wineries, craft and clothing shops, Montville can now lay claim to having the best accommodation in Australia.
The historic Sunshine Coast hinterland town that sits atop the Blackall Range ranked number one on the 2015 Australian Hotel Reputation Rankings released by Trivago, the world’s largest online hotel search site.
Montville’s accommodation providers rated an average of 88.78, ahead of Stanley in Tasmania (88.36).
The Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat at Montville rated number four in Australia for the best hotel with a 95.02 rating that also ranked it number two in Queensland and the best on the Sunshine Coast.
Mayor Mark Jamieson said Montville’s stellar ratings were a great credit to the town’s hard working accommodation businesses.
“These reputation rankings were collated from 200 million traveller ratings on more than 250 online hotel booking websites so to come out on top is an incredible achievement and genuine reflection of the quality of service these accommodation houses are providing,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“On the back of the outstanding visitor experience ratings our region received from cruise ship passengers, this really goes to show that wherever you venture on the Sunshine Coast, you’re guaranteed to enjoy tremendous hospitality.”
Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat Owner Mark Skinner said work was underway to ensure Montville’s sterling reputation was known internationally.
“We are currently overseas and have just come from Tourism Australia’s office in Frankfurt informing them about the Sunshine Coast hinterland and these Trivago ratings are the icing on the cake,” he said.
“The reception we have received from Switzerland and Germany has been phenomenal so far and we are equally excited about presenting in the UK and France next week. We’re looking forward to an influx of international visitation in the future.”
